BeerMe respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information BeerMe processes, why it is processed, and how it is stored when you use the BeerMe iOS application.
Depending on the features you use, BeerMe may process the following information:
BeerMe uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services to provide synchronization and social features.
Your Apple Account is handled by Apple. BeerMe does not receive your Apple Account password.
Personal information such as your consumption history and other private account data is stored in private storage associated with your iCloud account where applicable.
BeerMe also uses CloudKit for features such as friend discovery, friend requests, shared profile information, ratings and social activity.
When the social features are enabled, BeerMe creates a permanent, randomly generated friend code for your BeerMe account.
The friend code is used only to allow other BeerMe users to find your profile and send a friend request. It is not a password and does not provide access to your account.
You decide whether and with whom you share your friend code. Disconnecting social features disables discovery while preserving the code for later reconnection. Deleting your BeerMe account removes the associated active discovery information.
If you add another BeerMe user as a friend, BeerMe may share information that is necessary to provide the social features you have enabled.
This may include your profile, rankings, favorite beers and selected consumption statistics.
Your complete private drinking history and optional location history are not shared with friends simply because they become your friend.
BeerMe allows users to submit ratings for beers.
Ratings may contribute to aggregated global ratings visible to other users. Public rating contributions use pseudonymous identifiers rather than displaying your BeerMe identity to other users.
BeerMe may optionally save the location where a beer was added.
Location access requires iOS permission. If permission is not granted, BeerMe can still be used without location functionality.
Saved location information is associated with your private beer history and is not included in public ratings or automatically shared with friends.
You can disable location saving through BeerMe's settings or through the iOS privacy settings.
BeerMe may use notifications for social events such as friend requests, friend-request updates and beer activity.
Notification permission is managed through iOS and can be disabled at any time in the system settings.
BeerMe stores certain information locally on your device so that the app can remain responsive and continue to provide functionality when an internet connection is temporarily unavailable.
Local information may include app preferences, cached information, consumption history and synchronization state.
BeerMe does not sell your personal information.
Information is shared only where required to provide BeerMe functionality, such as through Apple's iCloud and CloudKit infrastructure or with BeerMe friends according to the social features you use.
BeerMe does not currently use third-party advertising networks or cross-app advertising tracking.
BeerMe retains information for as long as necessary to provide the app's functionality or until you delete the relevant information or your BeerMe account, subject to technical and legal requirements.
Some local data may also be removed when the app is deleted from your device.
BeerMe provides functionality for deleting your BeerMe account and associated account data.
Individual beer entries and other user-created information can also be removed through the app where supported.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including the right to request access, correction, deletion or restriction of processing.
